Sexual Assault Awareness Month is about more than awareness — the ultimate goal is prevention. If the person making $50K in income has better saving habits and makes fewer excuses they can outdo the person bringing in $100K in income. Below you’ll find 4 fundamental strategies to get yourself on a path towards incorporating financial habits that your bank account and your future family will thank for generations.
The more consistent you become with these routines, the easier it will be to introduce other routines that will help you grow mentally, spiritually and physically. For me, incorporating music, journaling, reading, and burning incense/white sage are additional practices that are important for me. I make sure to take care mind, body and spirit, and the days I don’t, it absolutely makes a difference.
The struggle can be real, but I'm here to help. What struggle exactly?! The one of branding yourself to become the most unforgettable entrepreneur ever of course! One of the first things I saw people try to do is go out and get a website and logo created...they think of all the fancy colors and fonts they could use, oh and don't forget plan out all the money they're going to need to get started on this new brand. While hip hop and pop cultural debates over the reigning Queen Bey’s Super Bowl 50 performance of “Formation” have simmered, it is imperative to briefly acknowledge how those conversations created opportunities for important messages to be expressed and discussed within diverse Black spaces. In the past decade, we have seen a reemergence of civil rights issues that plagued the nation following World War II. From the struggle of African-American freedom and self-determination, as seen in the Black Lives Matter movement, to anti-war sentiment, economic boycotts, environmental justice calls, and the fight for gender (and gender expression) equality, today activist are rising up and re-imagining the possibilities of a truly equal world.
Whatever part of your being you may be struggling to come to terms with, just take a step back, reflect, and take into consideration all that you are. Stop focusing on what you’re not and what society or anyone around you is telling you to be. One of my favorite reminders of self-love and authentic embrace comes from author Audre Lorde, “If I didn’t define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people’s fantasies for me and eaten alive.”
